NOW, THIS IS A MUSICAL!!!

Loved it! Sure, it's an extremely predictable story with a few modernizing and awkward twists. Get over it. The lead has a fabulous voice and can dance. She seemed a bit tense at first but she grows on you. The male lead was terrific. The nasty stepmom showed precision in every move and statement. The fairy godmother entertained with an impressive Wagnerian presence. The supporting cast was perfect and displayed a sense of fun that keeps you engaged. The dancing and gowns were lavish but Cinderella's gowns and changes were amazing. The coach, well, the coach, the coach, the coach was wonderful. You will watch poor Cinderella waltzing through "My Own Little Corner..." and "Ten Minutes Ago..." and wonder why you're so concerned, inspired, and heartbroken over a dumb fairly tale that you know will end well. What voices! The orchestra was every bit as good as the voices. The show was superbly entertaining. You'll be transported to a fairy tale.

NICE, BUT.......

The sets and effects were fabulous, voices were very good. But they messed so much with the story that it lacked continuity. “If it ain’t broke - don’t fix it”. Why they need political commentary and lectures to the audience Is a mystery. Other odd additions: a step sister and Cinderella are secret BFFs - spare me. I have never been disappointed at Tuachan In 12 years, but I was last night.

CINDERELLA SAN ANTONIO

While the staging was superior, the acting and singing voices were mediocre. I also did not like taking away from the well-known fairy tale love story by interjecting the "political "we must-save-the -world aspect". I was disappointed.

PRETTY SETS, BAD ACTING

My mother took my sister and I to watch this. I expected very high quality after watching Les Mis at the PAC, but I was extremely disappointed. To start with the good: the seats provided an great view, the costumes were a little cheap looking, but otherwise a visual feast, the sets were gorgeous. Onto the not so good: the acting was awful and most of the singing was average. Only the characters of Lord Pinkleton and Sebastian connected with their characters. (Bravo to Lord Pinkleton for his amazing voice) Cinderella had no likeable characteristics and sang very metallicly. Prince Topher was an idiot more than he was anything else and the few places his singing soared were overshadowed by parts his voice wasn't made for. Both of the lead actors, along with most of the others, were trying too hard to act and made the funny lines dorky. Throughout the duration of the play, I never rooted for the characters. The play's charm was stolen by the actors' deficiencies, wouldn't recommend.

SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTING

I was so excited to take my granddaughter along with 3 other family members to see the show, but changing the story line was confusing for the young ones. Having political overtones is completely not necessary and what is wrong with giving the audience what they expect. Would Rogers and Hammerstein been happy with those changes? I would have enjoyed it so much more if they kept to the original play’s storyline. Singing was excellent and costumes were beautiful. Scenery was outstanding and costume changes were magic! Just cut out the politics. Don’t we get enough of that on a daily basis. People have to relax!

COSTUME CHANGES GREAT-POLITICS NOT SO MUCH

Was hoping for a wonderful girls night with my daughter and sisters. Was treated to an “updated” program of political commentary. Peppered with a few of the original songs. The fairy godmother had a nice voice, the rest of the cast was so-so. I would not recommend this show.

CINDERELLA

Sorry - but I was truly hoping for the magical Cinderella I remembered as a child. And I wanted my children to experience the same. Plenty of time for them to worry about "one person, one vote" and electing a Prime Minister to represent the oppressed people. Why does everything have to be "updated" to massage the sensibilities of someone who fancies themselves more talented than the masters? Can we just let our kids be kids for a couple more hours? It ruined the magic for me, even though the cast was wonderfully talented. Perhaps the writer will have a go at Romeo & Juliet next and cut out the suicide scene. They could perish in a tragic balcony accident and the Monteque and Capulet families can find common ground creating a Department of Building & Safety. At least I had an aisle seat and could slip out early. Positive notes - the dancing was also lovely and the costumes were very pretty. Let's just leave our hands off the book from now on, shall we?
